About us
We are a ball de bastons (Catalan stick dance) group from Barberà del Vallès, born at Institut La Romànica and committed to the feminist struggle. We dance for folk culture, for our town and for a world where we all feel free, alive and dignified.
Our story
- The beginning. The group — first known as Colla Bastonera Les Romanes — was born in the playground of Institut La Romànica, still our home today.
- 8 March 2019. We launched our YouTube channel with the feminist dance “No tenim por”, set to “La nit és nostra” by Roba Estesa.
- April 2022. We started our children’s group, for kids aged 6 to 12.
- 22 May 2022. We organised the 7th Bastonada del Vallès, the first one held in Barberà, with 11 groups from all over Catalonia.
- 2022. We sponsored two new groups: Ball de Bastons de Ripollet and Ball de Bastons del Riberal (Bao).
- 4 October 2025. Barberà hosted the 50th National Gathering of Ball de Bastons of Catalonia, with more than 1,500 dancers, organised with Ara i Sempre.
What drives us
Feminism
We are a feminist group: we dance against sexism and for equality, in folk culture too.
Open to everyone
No experience needed: just the will to dance, laugh and share.
Folk culture
We keep ball de bastons alive and help it grow with new groups and new dances.
Rehearsals
We rehearse on Wednesdays and Fridays with Ara i Sempre in Barberà del Vallès. Write to us for times and groups (there is a children’s group too).
